A partner's shares
Do I report my partner's share trades?
Yes. Services Australia lists a change in your partner's income or assets among the changes to tell it about, the Guide's notification list covers the recipient or their partner buying or selling shares, and the shares form asks for your share of ownership and your partner's. Source: Services Australia, change of circumstances; Guide to Social Security Law 3.4.1.50; Services Australia, online account help for updating shares, read 28 Sep 2026.
How does the checker handle joint holdings?
Give each line an owner: self, partner or joint. The ready-to-enter table keeps each code and owner apart, so a joint holding and a partner-only holding of the same code show as two rows.
Worked example
The client's partner buys 1,000 EXT in the partner's own name on Mon 21 Sep 2026. Day 14 is Mon 5 Oct 2026, a working day, so the report-by date is Mon 5 Oct 2026 (national holidays only; set your state and its public holidays move it too). The line is owned by the partner, so the ready-to-enter table keeps it on its own row for EXT, apart from anything the client holds.
The rule. Report a change in shares within 14 days. Named in the sources: a buy, a sale, bonus shares. Any other change to the total number of shares the form asks for: report or confirm. A price movement is not on the list; listed shares are revalued on 20 March and 20 September. Every rule and its source.
What it takes. Trade lines only: date, code, buy or sell, quantity. Recognised account and holder numbers are removed; nothing leaves your browser until you save.
