Dividend reinvestment allocation: does it change the number of shares?

On the passbook, a dividend reinvestment allocation line reads: holding changed: report or confirm

Is a dividend reinvestment allocation a change to report?

Each allocation adds shares, so the total number of shares the online form asks for changes. The official pages read name buying, selling and bonus shares; they do not name dividend reinvestment. It is a holding change to report or confirm: report the new total, or confirm with Services Australia.

Worked example

An EXE dividend was reinvested as 12 new shares, the holding moving from 300 to 312, on Fri 18 Sep 2026. Day 14 is Fri 2 Oct 2026, a working day, so the report-by date is Fri 2 Oct 2026 (national holidays only; set your state and its public holidays move it too). No trade was placed, which is why it is missed; it is raised under finding 3 as a holding change to report or confirm.
