Worked example

A retiree gives 500 EXH shares to a grandchild for nothing on Thu 10 Dec 2026. Day 14 is Thu 24 Dec 2026, a working day, so the report-by date is Thu 24 Dec 2026 (national holidays only; set your state and its public holidays move it too). The transfer is a change to date and a gift to consider: whether it passes $2,000 in the income year is one rule, the gifting free area is another.
